After
the kids flew the nest we decided to get a Schipperke pup, for my
husband's folks had them when he was a tot. He could barely remember
them but thought they were really cool. I found one for him to be
a travel companion in the truck. Well that was my first mistake,
HAHA We named her Little Captain's Button (meaning of Schipperke
is "Little Captain") and I fell in love with her and she
was my buddy when the hubby was gone. So it wasn't long we got a
6 week male pup on my birthday. He was sweet, my sole mate, JW Tucker
was his name, after John Wayne "rough and tough and don't take
no guff off no one".
My
husband is still without a truck "buddy". I am too attached.
That was his mistake for asking me to potty train before he took
them in the truck!!!!!
What a little big "man"
Tucker was, ready to load up at all hours and travel anywhere,
cutting, rodeos, haul cattle, burger in town. Loyal, curious,
independent, confident, reserved with strangers yet friendly,
and always ready to stand guard on our yard. He would take on
our two Kelpie males, 3 times his size. They are actually scared
to come in the yard for he jumps up to greet them and would hang
on their sides. What a character! and could understand every word
you use, his favorite in the evening was "wanna go hot tubbing"
he'd be bouncing at the front door and then run to the edge of
the tub.
These are the best companions, long haired and can spend most
of their time in the yard. These dogs mature about 11"-13"
for males and 10"-12" for females at the withers.
Pups available at times thru
the year.
