Education

Knowledge is Power!
I am not versed on a lot of the specific things that have been happening in the field of education, however, I do know enough to form some opinions (after all, if you have not opinions you don't care enough...).
It seems to me that America used to have about a 75 to 90 percent literacy rate.  Now it isn't even that high for junior high students nation wide.
It seems to me that the schools should teach basic skills in math, science, reading, and basic life skills (how to change a tire, replace an outlet in the home, etc.).  Then if there is some time left over lets teach them about the details of what is socially irresponsible (murder, rape, sex out of wedlock, how to use a condom, how to smoke crack).
Some "professionals" in the education field have been telling us that "We must teach them about these things, after all", they say, "the kids are going to do it any way!"  Well, I don't believe that.  Kids are told that the schools are going to teach them the skills that they will need to "make it big in life".  I do not know a lot about drugs, STD's, or how to be a racially tolerant person.  Know what?  I don't NEED to know much about those things, it doesn't matter in the real world!  I don't do drugs. (I know that if you do you will likely die young.)  I don't have sex outside of my marriage.  And I know that people must be judged by the color of their minds, not the color of their skin.  (You should always judge people by the things that they control (read actions), not the things that they can't (read skin color, number of fingers, height, etc.).

more to come...
